Agreement to Terms

Welcome to New Jersey Steel Baron LLC (“NJSB,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, online booking system, and participation in any blacksmithing, bladesmithing, metalworking, or related instructional classes offered by NJSB (collectively, the “Service”).

By accessing our website or enrolling in any NJSB class, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service or participate in our classes.


Use of the Service

Eligibility

Participation in NJSB classes requires that:

  • Students must meet the minimum age requirement specified on each class page; Students age 13 -16 years old will require adult (parent/guardian) supervision, and all students under the age of 18 will require written consent from a parent or guardian via the BaronMade Liability Waiver.
  • NJSB may impose additional age or experience requirements when safety warrants it.

We reserve the right to refuse enrollment to any student for safety, behavioral, or operational reasons.


Account Registration

If creating an account is required for class enrollment, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current information
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
  • Notify us promptly of unauthorized account access

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or safety regulations
  • Engage in harassment, intimidation, or unsafe behavior
  • Upload, transmit, or attempt to introduce malware to the website
  • Misrepresent your skill level, identity, or eligibility
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service
  • Use the Service for unauthorized commercial purposes

Class Participation Requirements

Safety Clothing (MANDATORY)

All students must arrive wearing appropriate clothing. This is required for your safety and the safety of others.

Students must wear:

  • Long pants that cover the opening of the shoe/boot (natural fibers preferred)
  • A long-sleeve shirt (natural fibers preferred)
  • Closed-toe shoes (leather or suede recommended)
    • Mesh or rubber sneakers may melt or burn and are NOT permitted
  • Safety toe boots are optional but recommended

Students who arrive improperly dressed may be asked to sit out or leave at the instructor’s discretion.

PPE and Equipment

  • Safety glasses/goggles, gloves, and aprons are provided.
  • Students may bring their own PPE if preferred.
  • All tools required for class are provided.
  • Students with prior experience may bring their own forging hammer.

Code of Conduct

All students and visitors must maintain respectful, professional behavior at all times.

We have zero tolerance for:

  • Unsafe or reckless actions
  • Failure to follow safety instructions
  • Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior
  • Intoxication or drug use
  • Willful damage to tools, equipment, or property

Students who violate safety rules or behave in a disruptive or dangerous manner may be removed from class without a refund. They may be offered the option to reschedule at NJSB’s discretion.


Assumption of Risk

Participation in blacksmithing and metalworking activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Burns
  • Cuts and abrasions
  • Eye injuries
  • Impact injuries
  • Exposure to sparks, hot metal, and sharp tools
  • Muscle strain, fatigue, or physical exertion injuries

By enrolling in any NJSB class, you acknowledge and voluntarily accept all such risks.

Mandatory Liability Waiver

All students must sign a waiver of liability before participating.
Students who decline to sign the waiver may not attend class and will not receive a refund.


Class Timing and Completion

  • Classes begin promptly at the scheduled time.
  • Students arriving late will not receive additional time or extended instruction.
  • If a student chooses to leave early, they do so voluntarily and will not receive a refund.

Project Completion

If a student runs the risk of not completing their project:

  • They may have the option to schedule time with the instructor after class, at the instructor’s discretion
  • However, additional time is not guaranteed
  • The instructor may extend the class time, within reason, to allow a group to complete their project
  • Extra instruction time outside of the initial class curriculum, if offered, is billed at $125 per hour

Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Refunds

Student Cancellations

  • Students must cancel 48 hours before the class begins to receive a refund.
  • Students who fail to attend (“no-call, no-show”) receive no refund.

Instructor or NJSB Cancellations

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes at our discretion for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Low enrollment
  • Instructor illness
  • Hazardous weather
  • Safety or equipment concerns
  • Operational issues

If NJSB cancels a class, students receive a full refund or may transfer their enrollment to another available session.

Removal for Safety or Conduct

If a student is asked to leave due to unsafe behavior, inappropriate conduct, or violation of clothing requirements:

  • No refund will be issued
  • A reschedule may be offered solely at the instructor’s discretion

Payments and Pricing

  • Payment is due at the time of enrollment unless otherwise specified.
  • Class spots are not reserved until payment is issued.
  • We accept major credit cards and other payment methods listed during checkout.
  • Pricing is subject to change without notice.
  • Students are charged the price displayed at the time of checkout.

Intellectual Property

All content provided during NJSB classes—including instructional materials, techniques, demonstrations, and associated media—is the intellectual property of New Jersey Steel Baron LLC.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or use class content for commercial purposes without written permission.


Photography and Media Release

NJSB may take photos or videos during classes for marketing, educational, or promotional purposes.

  • Students may opt out by notifying the instructor before class begins, or by doing so through the liability waiver at the time of registration.
  • Otherwise, participation constitutes permission for NJSB to use your likeness.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • NJSB is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages resulting from participation in classes or use of the Service.
  • Your sole remedy in the event of dissatisfaction with a class is a refund only when eligible under these Terms.
  • NJSB’s total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the class in question.

Termination of Use

We may suspend or terminate your access to classes or the Service at any time and without notice if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • You pose a safety risk
  • You engage in misconduct
  • You provide false information during registration

You may close your account or discontinue participation at any time.


Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your participation in NJSB classes will be resolved in the courts located in New Jersey.


Changes to These Terms

NJSB may update or revise these Terms at any time.
We will notify users of material changes via email or website notification.

Continued use of the Service or participation in classes after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
